What is the difference between using a flat surface and a bar for alignment when using a single sensor?

When using a single sensor, a stationary bar with one hole will also center the profile along the X=0, whereas a flat surface will only correct the Y angle and Z offset. When using moving bar alignment also Z angle will be corrected.
