Question
What is the difference between non-uniform and uniform Profile operation mode?
Answer
Sensor Model | G2xxx |
Firmware Version | 3.x, 4.x, 5.x, 6.x |
SDK Version | n/a |
Non-uniform mode 2D data are unprocessed XZ coordinate pairs, one coordinate pair per pixel column on the camera. Therefore, non-uniform mode is suitable for high-speed applications where data processing is handled by the client PC. Only a limited amount of the Gocator's measurement tools work on non-uniform profiles, but most tools operate on uniform profiles.
Uniform profile mode 2D data are resampled into user-configurable even-sized bins along the X axis and reported as an 1D array of Z values, which results in structured data that the built-in measurement tools can operate on. The resampling takes more CPU time on the sensor, reducing the maximum speed.
