During the design process for a glue bead or weld inspection application, you may find yourself needing some assistance with the configuration of the Surface Track tool parameters. This can be a bit tricky since you will need to share a .user file with tech support, they will send a modified .user file back to you, and you will have to load the .user file onto an active sensor. This procedure shows you how to load a .user file from another user (like LMI Tech Support) onto your sensor.
- On sensor, load the .job that includes your Surface Track tool and make it the active/current job
- On sensor, upload and merge whatever .rec file you wish to use with the Surface Track tool or take a new scan (as long as it is the same as the .user file was originally generated from)
- On sensor, enter Replay mode
- On PC, launch the TrackEditor utility available in the GoUtilities package from the LMI Support site. The version of the TrackEditor must match that of the sensor itself
- In the Track Editor, select PC as the file source location
- In the Track Editor, press Load Tracks and find the .user file provided by the other user (i.e. LMI Tech Support)
- For FW versions 5.3 SR1 and newer, you should copy the modified .user file to this folder with a unique name: C:\GoTools\SurfaceTrack
- For FW versions 5.3 and older, you should copy the modified .user file to both of these folders with a unique name: C:\LMI\SurfaceTrack AND C:\LMI\SurfaceTrackSensor. The SurfaceTrack folder will be used with your Emulator and the SurfaceTrackSensor folder will be used with your sensor
- For GoPxL you should copy the modified .user file to the folder of your GoPxL Utilities with a unique name: GoPxL_Utilities\Tools\TrackEditor\TmpDirGpws\gdk\SurfaceTrack
- In the Track Editor, press Open
- In the Track Editor, change your Source to Sensor
- In the Track Editor, type in the IP address of the sensor you wish to store the .user file on
- In the Track Editor, press Connect
- Once connected, click Save Tracks As and give it a new name for storage on the sensor. Click Save.
- On sensor, go to the Measure page and select the Surface Track tool
- From the Operation dropdown of the Surface Track tool, select Refresh File List
- From the File dropdown of the Surface Track tool, select the file you just saved on the sensor
- From the Operation dropdown of the Surface Track tool, select Load. This should load the new track, and you should see the calipers on your stored image.
- Save the loaded job to retain these settings on sensor
