This article goes over basic and additional firewall settings that are to be required for the GoAccelerator.exe and kDiscovery tool to detect a live sensor.
Some users are unable to access the Gocator utility tools such as kDiscovery.exe and GoAccelerator.exe on their laptop; once the application is open, sensors connected to the network card are not visible even though they are connectable via their IP address on a browser such as Chrome, Firefox etc.
This usually arises when IT has strict firewall rules for applications on employee computers.
Step 1: Basic Firewall settings
Go to “Allow an app through Windows Firewall” in Control panel on Windows and enable Private and Public access for all versions of kDiscovery.exe, Discover.exe, GoAccelerator.exe and GoXVMProcess.exe
Step 2: Open GoAccelerator.exe and/or kDiscovery.exe to see if the application is able to see the sensor.
In most cases, you should be able to accelerate the sensor using GoAccelerator.exe or see them using kDiscovery and your problem is solved.
If not, Sensors are either not visible at all or there would be an error of sensor being online while accelerating when GoAccelerator.exe can see the sensor on the list.
Step 3: Additional measures to be taken by setting up incoming and outgoing firewall rules manually.
a. Go to advanced settings under Windows Defender Firewall
b. Select Inbound Rules (Note: Same steps will have to be replicated for Outbound rules)
c. Create a new rule
d. Allow the program connection and browse to directory
You will have to create three separate rules; both inbound and outbound to cover all bases, assuming Step 2 was not enough to circumvent the firewall.
e. a given program's permission will look like the following in the Rules section.
Once done, verify that GoAccelerator.exe can see the sensor and successfully accelerate. Also, verify whether kDiscovery is able to see the sensor IP. For any further questions, reach out to support@lmi3d.com.
